The Chicago Chapter of the International Society of Employee Benefits Specialists announces April's educational program:

     Mercer Benchmarking

    Tuesday, April 17th

    Speaker: Dave Cooke,

    Mercer, Principal, Health and Benefits

This interactive presentation will highlight employee benefit marketplace trends from the current Mercer survey of over 2,500 plan sponsors. Among the highlights: the rise in high-deductible CDHPs and the steps employers take to help stretch workers’ health care dollars; increased use of telemedicine and transparency tools, mitigating the continued rise in prescription drug costs; and what steps employers are considering next. Key considerations for each trend will also be discussed.

Speaker profile: Dave is a Principal with the Mercer Chicago office. He has over twenty-five years of experience in health and welfare benefits, with a financial and underwriting background.

Dave leads clients in formulating long-term benefit strategies to mitigate rising benefit expenses, including the impact of health care reform. He specializes in helping organizations manage their health and welfare programs though plan design analysis, vendor evaluation and selection, financial performance evaluation and compliance reviews. He has worked with clients ranging in size from 100 to 100,000 employee lives.

Before joining Mercer, Dave worked as a health and welfare consultant for a national employee benefits consulting firm. Dave has consulted on both US and global health and benefits programs for clients. He has also worked in leadership capacities at major insurance carriers in account management and product management roles.

Dave received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University. He earned the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation in 1997 and is a Fellow in the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS). He has served on the Corporate Board of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP), the Governing Council of the ISCEBS as well as the CEBS committee of the IFEBP.
